Pizza

We all love pizza and keep craving for the same. It’s a go to food these days. Pizza is nothing but a bread topped with your favorite veggies or any other topping and generously topped with cheese and some seasoning. Pizza is so much loved that a pizza reaches us faster than any other meal ordered. So why not make this at home? Few ingredients and we can make it at home at our own convenience.

Ingredients

For the pizza base

Refined flour – 3/4 cup

Whole wheat flour – 3/4 cup (you may use all of refined flour or whole wheat flour or do it half and half)

Salt – 1 tsp

Oil – 2 tsp

Warm water – as required

Active yeast – 1 tsp

Sugar – 1 tsp

For the topping

Onion – sliced or cut into cubes – 1 no

Capsicum – sliced or cut into cubes – 1 no

Tomato – sliced – 1 no

Corn – 1/2 cup

Mozzarella cheese – as required

Italian seasoning – as per taste (approx 1/2 tsp per pizza)

Salt – as per tatse

Chilly flakes – 1/2 tsp per pizza

Pizza sauce – 2 tsp per pizza (You May use any sauce of your choice or even tomato ketchup)

Method

1. Take half cup warm water add sugar and mix till sugar dissolves. Add yeast and mix well. Set aside for ten minutes. You might see that your yeast might have activated (might have become frothy). If not please change your yeast or check the temperature of water. It should not be too hot else yeast may not activate.

2. Now in a bowl add refined flour, wheat flour, salt and mix well. Add the yeast mixture and mix well. Add a tsp of oil and mix well. Now add warm water gradually and make a soft dough. Knead the dough for five to seven minutes. Grease a bowl with oil and place the dough in the bowl and cover and keep it aside for an hour or two till the dough rises.

3. Once the dough rises well, pull out a ball of dough and roll it into a circular roti. You may use some refined flour to dust the surface in which you want to roll the pizza base. Prick the base with a fork. Apply a generous layer of sauce and top it with cheese. Then place your favorite vegetables and sprinkle some Italian seasoning, salt and chilly flakes. Add some more cheese on top.

4. Preheat your oven at 200 degree Celsius and bake for 15 minutes. Cheesy thin crust pizza is now ready to serve.

Tips

1. If your yeast doesn’t get activated then do not proceed.

2. Do not spread the sauce , cheese and vegetables till the end of the pizza base. Leave some gap from the edge of the pizza base approx 1/4 inch. Else all your cheese might fall off while baking.

3. Do not forget to prick your base with a fork else it might puff up while baking.

4. You may use your favorite topping like veggies, Paneer or even non veg.

5. Time for the flour to rise shall depend on the area you live. It might take an hour to two for the dough to rise. Keep your dough covered in a warm place.
