Thepla is a famous Indian bread belonging to the state of Gujarat. A mildly spiced roti flavored with generous amount of fresh fenugreek leaves and topped with many spices is extremely delicious. Soft, tasty and very healthy methi Thepla is very easy to make.
Ingredients
Wheat flour – 1 cup
Fenugreek leaves – 1/2 cup
Curd – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
Roasted cumin seed powder – 1/4 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Salt – as required
Oil – as required
Water – as required
Method
1. Wash and strain all the water from the methi leaves. Chop them finely.
2. In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, coriander powder, roasted cumin powder and garam masala. Mix well. Now add in a tsp of oil and curd and mix well.
3. Add water little by little and form a soft dough. Grease the dough with little oil and cover it and set aside for 10 minutes.
4. Pull a ball of dough and roll it to a roti and add it to a hot pan. Cook on both sides smearing some oil. Methi thepla is now ready. Eat it as it is or serve with curd and pickle of your choice.
