Rasam Powder

Rasam is a South Indian soup. There are many variations to Rasam like jeera pepper Rasam, parippu rasam, lemon Rasam, pineapple Rasam, Mysore Rasam, Kalyana Rasam, etc. So when you get back home from a tiring day a warm bowl of Rasam rice is as good as a soul enlightening therapy. With this powder you can make Rasam in minutes. Stock it in your pantry and make Rasam whenever you wish.

Ingredients

Coriander seeds – 1 cup

Pigeon peas / tur dal – 3/4 cup

Pepper corns – 2 tbsp

Cumin seeds – 2 tbsp

Dry red chilly – 1/4 cup (adjust according to spice levels)

Method

1. Take all ingredients and keep it in sunlight for two hours (optional).

2. Take a dry pan and heat it. Now dry roast coriander seeds, pigeon peas, pepper corns. Roast till a nice aroma comes out and the pigeon peas changes its color. Now add dry red chilies and roast for few more minutes.

3. Take it out from the pan and allow it to cool.

4. Once cooled blend them along with cumin seeds and store it in an air tight container.

5. Add a teaspoon to your Rasam and you are ready to go.

Tips

No wet hands or wet pan or wet laddle or wet blender to be used.

Always use a dry spoon.
